On assignment for Reuters recently, I covered Privateer Holdings, a Seattle-based private equity firm that has raised millions for investment in the marijuana industry. Privateer has been quite successful so far with Leafly.com and seems poised for more success, although some other investors are more wary of the marijuana/cannabis industry. Women’s Wellness and Integrated Social Health is doing great work for women in crisis and transition, many of whom are incarcerated or transitioning from prison. Founded by Laura Pavlou, WWISH first crossed my path thanks to friend and former classmate Hillary U, the Director of Operations at WWISH. It’s an impressive organization to work with and I am truly inspired by the work they do and the women they serve.
